May 2013
I hadn't been back to Pupukea since I first moved to Hawaii. I figured it was time to go back and explore it. It had been raining torrentially the past few days. I expected the water to be muddy, but instead it was almost non existent in most places. An extremely low tide for some reason. |

February 2013
It's called Sunset Beach for a reason. I love watching the sun set into the ocean from this beach. The best part was that I was kinda sorta able to catch the illusive "Green Flash" just as the sun disappears beneath the ocean. |

I did another stretch of beach up on the North Shore, this time starting at Malaekahana Beach Park and walking up to Laie Point. I was only able to walk about 90% of it as there was a spot towards the end that was pure cliff and I had to drive around to the other side. |
February 2013
Every spring the Humpback whales make their way to Hawaii to mate. They are all over the place which makes for whale watching pretty easy. The tricky part was looking in the correct spot when they surfaced and being quick enough to take a picture. |
January 2013
I was hoping to catch some of the big wave action that this spot is famous for, but the weather didn't allow that to happen. The waves were still rough, just not as dramatic as I had hoped. It was a very "wintery" day, but there were times when the sun peaked through. |
January 2013
My first sunset of the new year. Normally it seems like the sun isn't in a good spot for sunsets at this beach, but for this time of year it all worked out. This beach is off the beaten path and usually not very crowded. Perfect setting to watch the sun sink into the ocean. |
